AUTHOR'S NOTE
In my twenties I began doing research about Maryland civilians during the Civil War. I’d grown up in that border state, curious about the people who found battles exploding on their doorsteps. The research led to my Master’s thesis, several novels, and my one nonfiction book, Too Afraid to Cry. By then I was working as a curator at Old World Wisconsin, immersed in history education and historic sites work. That led to writing my Chloe Ellefson Historic Sites mystery series. I hope my passion for these fascinating places shines through!
